The Community

Aside from a great selection, Rustic Records has created something truly special. The reason we are here, the reason you are here, and the reason so many others are too can usually be summed up in one word, experience. We all find this experience in different ways. whether in the hunt for the music we love, the ritual of holding and placing an album down, the artwork, the sound, or any other multitude or combinations of things. When we first discovered Rustic Records we knew that they were a major part of the experience. The attention to detail and the tremendous effort and care made us realize that they were more than just another place to buy a record.  

When the store started in November of 2020 it did so to specifically  help people at a  time when they might need it most. Brian had known how much music had been there for him in his life and he wanted to help others find that same  comfort if they needed it. That goal gave birth to their mission  statement: 

"Connecting people with the music that connects with them."

Brian started the store with background in hospitality and customer service. Combining a  lifetime of discovering music under his belt and the knowledge that came  with it, he really felt like if he could combine both of those facets, the  customer service along with a massive passion for music, that he could  create a different experience for people. He wanted to bring a  personalized experience to online record shopping. To not have it be so  transactional; to be more than "we have this record, you bought this  record, here's your tracking number, done."


Therefore,  he  set out to really connect with as many people as possible via their social media platforms, educate about artists/songs/albums/the vinyl  industry as a whole/turntables, you name it, and package people's  records in a way that showed we cared the moment you opened it including  a hand-written note on every single order. Completely transparent  and focused on people over product. People have responded to the  difference in a huge way and almost 18 months to the day after he launched on Instagram he went full time with the shop and left a career he  didn't think he ever would .Since then he has never been happier or more fulfilled  personally or professionally.


Visible in the entirety of his store you can tell that it is a dream come  true for him  to get to spread love and happiness every day through music. The experience for him comes from his customers, to know how  people had been looking for a certain record for years and he was the one that helped them get it. How  that album or a song on it reminded them of a sibling, parent,  grandparent, a special event like a birth, adoption, wedding. To be able  to help people capture these memories and cherish them forever is so  amazing and in every part of him you can feel that he is genuinely honored that so many people have chosen to  make him and my little shop part of their musical journey and even their  lives.
